The Perfect Chocolate Brown - Wedding Dress Sash Love

What happened to Sunday Funday?! I had a blah Sunday. Don't fault me for not trying, oh I did. I made an effort to clean, and when that didn't work, I then went to relax in the sun, and then when THAT didn't work, I gave up and went shopping. And still found nothing. I am searching for that perfect black dress that we all long for - the one you can dress up and down and wear on any occasion and feel amazing.

So of course, now you are scrolling down to see which stunning little black dress I am coveting that I found over the net. Well, I haven't seen a thing! So friends, if you have any good leads for me, PUH-LEASE send them my way.

Instead, to try and put some happiness back in my day, I hit up some of my favorite blogs...

For those of you who have been following for a while you know how madly in love I am with Sarah Yates and her photos. In the attempt to turn my day around, I found her lovely post (and then even more over on 100 Layer Cake) and something about this bride's dress just struck a cord with me.

The brown sash did it - the color - the perfect rich chocolate - just made my day.

Love the naked wood tables and simple runner, the white peaches, golden nectarines, and the pretty pastels of the floral decor. So gorgeous!

I'm hoping when you read this on Monday that your day is going fantastic and the little brown sash makes you smile too!

All in the Details + Jasmine Star Photography

I love details. They are such fun little surprises and in my mind are truly the glue that brings an event together. I also looooove Jasmine Star. Reading her blog is like sitting with your best girlfriend at your favorite coffee shop and just talking and laughing for hours. I feel like I have known her for years, she just gets me, and when we hang out - we have such a great time...even though she's never met me. Don't worry Jasmine, I promise I will meet you one day, (said in a loving friendship way, not a creepy stalker way) and maybe if I am lucky enough, we will do a fabulous wedding together!

Recently on Jasmine's blog she posted about a wedding she shot at Ponte Winery with the lovely Bree and Zack. The first thing I noticed were all of the sweet details, here are two of my favorites...

How cool is it that they actually took a class to learn how to letterpress! I am loving that Bree thought to highlight and remember her Something Blue and other gorgeous jewelry in a photo. Such a fun twist on capturing the details.

I am also loving how real this couple is and how incredibly fun their wedding looked. Jasmine Star and JD did an amazing job capturing who these two are as a couple, as individuals, and how much they truly love each other. Maybe it's my post about The Notebook engagement shoot on Bay Area Bride Guide yesterday, but I am way mushy today!

What details including on your big day and how are you capturing them?

Photo Love - Southern California Wedding Photographer

Back in the day - 2007 to be exact - I met Sarah Yates. I know, squeal away because she is like super famous now and her work is all over the top wedding blogs. In 2007 she photographed my sister's wedding (which she did an amazing job of by the way) but since I was Matron of Honor running around like crazy as well as part wedding planner (note: those two gigs NEVER mix well) we really didn't get to bond like I know we could now. Since then, she has also photographed my sister's maternity photos and taken the most adorable shots of my niece. So adorable in fact that I think I may move south just to get some good shots of my family!

And I am so excited to have a little Sarah Yates button on my blog, my shout out to the world of "That's right ladies and gents it's Sarah Yates on MY little blog. Watch out world!"

So yup, I'm using this post to brag that I know her, have even met her, and worked with her, or I guess I should say posed for her. Here are some recent shots of hers that I LOVE and wanted to share. Oh and rumor is she has been visiting Nor Cal bit more recently for weddings and such so brides listen up - she will travel.

Congrats on all your recent successes Sarah! Here's to many more amazing weddings, engagement shoots, and photos full of cute babies.

Me & my little sis on her big day.

Vintage Engagement Photo Sessions

Hello! Apologies for the lack of posting, we are expecting Baby Dean to arrive January 1st and baby world is trying to take over my wedding world! So, moving back into wedding world...I have a great post for you about a fantastic photographer.

My sister down in San Diego found Sarah Yates to shoot her wedding, pregnancy photos and now Baby Addison's photos. Sarah is one of my favorite photographers and I check out her great blog from time to time at www.sarahyatesblog.com.

Not only are her photos incredible, she is fantastic at capturing one of the trends I am noticing with engagement photos. Couples are choosing to get all dolled up and create vintage photo shoots - transporting themselves to another era and looking fabulous. Take a peek at Ben and Lacey and Sara and Nick. Ben and Lacey bring me back to the days of Gatsby while Sara and Nick channel the infamous Brad and Angelina "W" magazine photo shoot.

What a great way to have some fun with standard shots for your engagement! Enjoy!
